Dominic Michael Salon is throwing support behind Team Leisa for this year’s Pedal the Cause fundraiser!!!

Pedal the Cause is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital through an annual bike challenge. NewsChannel 5 anchor and investigative reporter Leisa Zigman was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a blood cancer, in November. She decided to join Pedal the Cause because 100% of the money raised will stay in St. Louis to help fund research to cure all cancers. To support the cause, Team Lisa Co-Captains will be outside of Dominic Michael Salon in Clayton on September 16 from 10:00am-4:00pm to sign people up for the event and take donations for those who can’t participate. If you can’t ride, but you still want to support the cause, you can donate, volunteer or register as a Virtual Rider. As a Virtual Rider, you can still join Team Leisa, create a profile page and fundraise, with an initial donation of $10. There are no fundraising requirements as a virtual rider, so this option allows you to be a part of our team without riding on the open streets.

Congratulations to Beth Kirby, the winner from our recent Facebook promotion, “Get Glam Giveaway” Makeover Contest! Out of four other finalists, Dominic Michael Salon chose Beth to receive an entire year’s worth of free beauty plus a glamorous makeover at the salon.

Beth recently received a promotion at work, and as the manager of several key accounts at a large marketing firm, she really wanted to look professional, yet still attain a modern, youthful look. “I haven’t had a new look in over 7 years,” she said. “With this new change in my career, what better time to try something new!”

Beth is also an identical twin, and she has been looking for a way of differentiating herself from her sister. “I really wanted to set myself apart from my twin. After 28 years of the same hairstyles, I was ready to break out of our mold and do something different.”

As winner of the contest, Beth received a full day of pampering at the Clayton salon. After Michael gave her a stylish cut and color, Laurie treated Beth with a manicure while Amy gave her a relaxing facial. “Everyone at the salon was so nice and so happy for me. It was such a great experience!”

Construction is well underway on Baxter Road and Edison Ave in Chesterfield, which presents a problem for clients trying to get to our Chesterfield location. This construction directly affects our traffic flow to the salon.

Dominic Michael Salon is always amazed at the talent that these students possess, so it came as no surprise to see one alum’s work grace the cover of one of the most noted online fashion publications in the country.

Michael Harlan Schwarz, the 1997 recipient of Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts “Designer of the Year”, showcased his work on the cover of Women’s Wear Daily in the July 21 issue. The article praises his ability to seamlessly blend form and function into his collection and highlights his luxurious, impeccable taste. Congratulations, Michael!
